Charitable Giving with the Silicon Valley Community Foundation
Charitable giving is something that should be done mindfully, carefully, and with a sense of certainty that donated funds will be well spent.
Many of our clients create private family foundations. Many are similarly interested in giving that will continue perpetually, but are uncertain of the alternatives.
Liza Hanks is the Director of Planned Giving at the Silicon Valley Community Foundation. She is also an experienced estate planning attorney. She brings very special experience to her role at the Foundation. On July 22, Liza will join us to discuss the role of the Silicon Valley Community Foundation and how it can serve any individual or family that wants to create a fund but does not want to have responsibility for managing that fund.
We will address:
1. How the Community Foundation operates
2. How to establish a fund at the Community Foundation – and give it direction
3. How decisions are made about annual distributions
4. Cost of creating and maintaining a fund in your name
5. How are future generations involved and what power do they have?
6. Compare the Community Foundation with creation of a private family foundation
- Multi-generational involvement
- Management and cost
- Problems and challenges
Join Michael Gilfix, Mark Gilfix, and Liza Hanks on Wednesday, July 22 at 2PM for this informative discussion.
