Cynthia Barclay joined Gilfix & La Poll Associates in 2013 and practices in the areas of Trust Administration, Estate Planning and Probate.
Ms. Barclay brings a depth of experience and compassion to the legal profession from years of education, environmental work, and community service, allowing her to understand the needs and challenges faced by her clients as they encounter trust and estate related issues.
Prior to law school, after graduating with a geology degree from San Jose State University, Ms. Barclay spent over 10 years in the environmental/geologic profession. She worked at the U.S. Geological Survey for four years, and later as a senior project manager overseeing multimillion dollar environmental clean-up projects for major environmental firms in the Bay Area.
With a passion for community service, Ms. Barclay has also spent extensive hours volunteering for community organizations such as Christmas in April Castro Valley (aka Rebuilding Together; board member for two years), Castro Valley Mothers Club (founding member and co-director), Castro Valley Preservation Alliance (founding member), Castro Valley Education Foundation and many other school and community organizations.
During law school, Ms. Barclay worked with Bay Area Legal Aid and the Tenants Union of San Francisco, assisting clients with housing conflicts related to the application of fair housing laws and discrimination issues. She received her juris doctorate from John F. Kennedy University in Pleasant Hill.
Ms. Barclay, a native Californian, lives in Castro Valley with her two daughters, four cats and 10-year old goldfish.
