Karen Chiu joined Gilfix & La Poll Associates in 2015 and practices in the areas of Estate Planning, Trust Administration, and Probate.
Prior to law school, after graduating with dual Managerial Economics and Chinese degrees from the University of California, Davis, Ms. Chiu was a fund accountant at the Bank of New York Mellon.
She received her juris doctorate degree from Santa Clara University where she focused her studies in estate planning and estate and gift taxation. She cares deeply about helping individuals who have worked hard their entire lives in hopes of building a solid legacy to preserve for their loved ones or to charities that are dear to their hearts. She obtains a tremendous amount of satisfaction knowing that her role is to help counsel her clients on how to preserve their assets to achieve their ultimate goals.
During law school, Ms. Chiu interned at the probate division of the Superior Court of California, County of Santa Cruz for the Honorable Timothy Volkmann and was a volunteer at Tax-Aid, Inc. and the annual Jerry A. Kasner Estate Planning Symposium.
Ms. Chiu, a bilingual Bay Area native who speaks Mandarin Chinese, currently resides in Fremont with her dog, Buddy.
